Guess what I’ve been shooting, yes chairs, new collection by a partnership of interior designer and high class furniture maker, these chairs are very elegant and practical I am sure they will soon be the talk of the town. Shot them at one of my favorite studios that allows me and god do all the lighting, some things are just best kept simple.
Yes I can hear you saying it, he gets some rubbish jobs, but someone got to do it. My last 3 days shooting the super yacht, its sure been a good project to be involved in, great owners, boat and team. Wish I could show you more but the images a pegged for a magazine and sure you understand, but here’s a shot of the neighbours, well it was the Monaco boat show.
Shot a job today and this image really jumped out at me, firstly I loved the image on the wall, I know that you cant really see it in my image as it is obscured by the blind reflection, it was of India boys sitting on a river pier, the half-light and colour are so rich, great mood and atmosphere, then on the otherside of the room, to me it looks like there is a pastle picture of a doorway with dressing gown on the back of it, but no, its just the refletion in a mirror which happens to be on the wall. I like it when this sort of thing happens, on the day I am to taken up with all the tecnical things of the shoot and when I step back from the image and see somthing new, thats good for me. I like this image.
Things are going well, I do seem to be always on someone blog or what watching training vids but I feel the work is getting good, some much so that our clients are starting to use us for their moving image needs as well as still. It has meant buying quite a bit of new kit and software but as I say in the title says always good to get some new toys….
Some words I have read and agree with wholeheartedly.
In choosing to work with a specific photographer a designer has decided to not only make an investment of time and money in their photographs but to let that photographer have an impact upon the future of their business and their career.
Many photographers do not understand the level of trust placed in them by their clients and therefore do not recognize the importance of their photographs to the designer. The designer will use their photographs in sales presentations, to submit for editorial publication, in mailers, magazine advertisements and on their web site. The interior designer will be using their photographs in more ways, to do more things than any other business tool they posses other than their telephone. An interior designers photographs are every bit as important to their professional image as their business cards.
As professional photographers we are expected to create dynamic images that catch the eye and elicit a visceral response from the viewers. By openly collaborating with our clients we not only create the best images we can, we create images that clearly speak with the designers voice.
Don’t do many of these nowadays, so it was with great pleasure to shoot this magnificence house last week for a good client of ours. it still amazes me that such gems like these hide away and then a door opens and this is inside. well done London town, no wonder I love shooting in this mertropliis, one of the greatest citys of the world.
Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination…And don’t bother concealing your thievery—celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from—it’s where you take them to.”- Jim Jarmusch
I know that, ripping off someones work is wrong, but whatever I look at goes into my mind and becomes part of my thoughts and like the guys says its what you do with it counts.
As for this next quote saw it on LinkIn this week and just made me laugh, hope it does the same for you.
I think it was David Vestal that said, “A freelance photographer is someone with two Nikons and a working wife”,
Mr Prosser got married 31/07/10 and has just returned from his honeymoon and sent us a little card, so I thought I would put it up on the blog to let very one see how well he is doing and his lovely wife Helen. Lee was my assistant for 3 years and now has his own company www.myblankwall.co.uk. He and Helen are also looking forward to their 1st baby, we wish them all the best for their lives together.
