Tim Newbold was doing up his North London home when his next-door neighbour offered to sell him his place. This offer caused Newbold to have a eureka moment. “Our two houses were separated by a 5ft alley, and I had the idea that the space could be incorporated into my neighbour’s house to make an impressive light well, and that this larger, improved space would make a better home than the one I was doing up,” says Newbold, who designs and makes furniture.
